Notes/Review:

A bizarre album of sixties garage, seventies funk, and carousel & circus tunes from the late 1800s, dismembered and refashioned by Andrei Olenev (Heyoka) in a blaze of frenzied glitch-hop.

Fun, playful, and not intended to be taken seriously in the slightest, Intergalatic Carnival occasionally hits the mark, especially on tracks like the heavily programmed Circus Freak and Cosmic Carousel, which takes well-known circus melodies and gives them a right old bass and beats-driven blow torching.

Unfortunately, however, such highlights are rare on a record that shows off Olenev's mastery of synth software cut and paste but very little else.

Sparklingly produced and - to some extent - cleverly produced, this cannot spare Intergalatic Carnival from being regarded as a novelty album, and as we should know, novelty albums are only endearing in small doses.

Occasionally fun, but mostly irritating, and definitely throwaway.
